1. Introduction
EGREGIUS DIGITAL ("we," "us," or "our") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, store, and share information when you use the Kindred: Family Cookbook mobile application and related services ("the App").
By using the App, you agree to the terms of this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the App.
2. What This App Does
Kindred: Family Cookbook is a family-oriented recipe management application that allows families to collaboratively create, share, and preserve their culinary traditions across generations. Users can create shared cookbooks, add recipes with photos and notes, generate shopping lists, and access them securely across devices.
3. Information We Collect
We collect the following categories of information to deliver and improve our services:
a. Account Information
- Email address
- Display name
- Encrypted password (stored by Firebase Authentication)
- Authentication provider (Email/Password, Google Sign-In, or Apple Sign-In)
- Optional profile photo
- Account creation timestamp
- Terms of Service acceptance (version and timestamp)
b. Cookbook & Recipe Data
- Cookbook titles, descriptions, and membership
- Recipe content: titles, ingredients, instructions, prep/cook times, notes, and photos
- Favorite recipes and cookbook share codes
- Admin and membership roles
c. Subscription & Billing Data
- Subscription tier and status
- Expiration date
- RevenueCat customer ID
- Payment attribution data (user ID of purchaser)
- Account creation and synchronization timestamps
d. Usage Analytics
Collected through Firebase Analytics for app performance and improvement:
- Recipe and cookbook interactions (create, edit, view, delete)
- Subscription and paywall interactions
- Device platform, app version, session duration
- Aggregated, non-identifiable analytics data only
e. Push Notifications
- Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) device token
- Notification authorization and interaction data
- Notification preferences
f. Bug Reports & Feedback
- User-submitted report title and description
- App version, platform, user ID, and timestamp
- Optional contact information
g. Administrative & Security Data
- IP address (for rate limiting and security logs)
- User agent string (device/browser info)

6. Data Sharing with Third Parties
To operate the App, we share limited data with secure third-party service providers:

When your account is deleted:
- Deleted: personal identifiers, display name, profile photo, and authentication credentials.
- Retained: subscription and billing data, audit logs, and recipes shared within family cookbooks.
Recipes remain in shared cookbooks as collective group property, as explained in the Terms of Service.
8. Children's Privacy
The App is intended for users aged 13 and older.
We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we learn that such data has been collected, we will delete it promptly and disable the associated account.
9. Data Security
We use industry-standard security controls to protect your information, including:
- Firebase Authentication encryption
- Access controls and audit logs
- Encrypted network communication (HTTPS/TLS)
Despite these safeguards, no online service is completely secure. You agree to absolve Egregius Digital of financial responsibility for any accidental data corruption, alteration, or deletion, as described in our Terms of Service.
10. International Data Transfers
Your data may be transferred to or stored in countries outside of Canada (such as the United States) where different privacy laws may apply. We rely on contractual and organizational safeguards, including Google and RevenueCat's compliance frameworks, to protect your data in these jurisdictions.
11. Accessing or Correcting Your Information
Under Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA), you have the right to access and correct your personal information.
To make a request, email admin@egregius.tech with your name, registered email address, and a description of your request.
We will verify your identity before responding and may retain limited data to comply with legal obligations.
12. Lawful Disclosures
Egregius Digital may disclose your information if required by law or in good faith belief that such action is necessary to:
- Comply with a legal obligation or court order
- Respond to lawful requests by public authorities, including law enforcement
- Protect the rights, property, or safety of users or the public
